So close

Here we go! Last week. Looking back takes some time. It just seems like the other day when I was sitting on the couch at my moms on Labor Day 2008 hungover signing up for Ironman. It’s been a tough taper week. After a good training weekend and a race win on Sunday I found myself rather sluggish. I couldn't get moving to save my life. Last night and this morning things were looking up though. I’m a little heavy in the pool but, some of the speed was coming back. Everything is healing nicely and my energy levels seem to be increasing. I have developed this back pain though, right in the middle. Not sure why or what to do. Seems a bit late to worry about it. Not much left, 5.5 hrs of riding and running this weekend and then 4 short days of high intensity long rest training.
One last comment, along with the back pain I have had a very sensitive stomach. A constant knot or cramp. This has been going on for a week now. I thought it had to do with overuse of NSAID's. Jody made a suggestion...maybe it's an overdose of nerves? I think he's right because every time I think of that my stomach turns and tightens.
So once again, to one of my favorite quotes that has suited me very well in the last 2 yrs. Compliments of Natalie:
"Big occasions and races which have been eagerly anticipated almost to the point of dread, are where great deads can be accomplished" -Jack Lovelock

Um, "great deeds" not deads. Important distinction in this case I think. : )
